Speaker Abbas lays foundation of six new projects in Zaria

From Sadiq Mohd, Zaria  Dr. Abbas Tajuddeen, Speaker of the House of Representatives has performed the groundbreaking of six new projects in Zaria Federal Constituency for the development of the people. The projects, include the College of Agriculture and Animal Science, Sports Academy, Technical and Vocational Training College, Centre for Management Development, Women’s Development Centre, and 320 bed space new male and female hostels at the Nigerian Institute of Leather Science and Technology (NILEST), in Samaru, Zaria. The Speaker has also flagged up 250 fully funded scholarships for students pursuing Higher National Diploma, Ordinary National Diploma and National Diploma in Leather Technology at NILEST that secured admission from all local government areas of Zone one in kaduna state. Badaru Says Nigeria Making Steady Progress in Tackling Insecurity

The Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, has said that Nigeria is making significant progress in addressing insecurity under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, attributing the improvement to new security strategies and renewed collaboration between the government and communities. Kaduna Govt to renovate ABU internal roads

From Sadiq Mohd Zaria  Kaduna State Government has offered to renovate some internal roads in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. The Managing Director, Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA), Dr Abdullahi Baba Ahmed, made this known when he called on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed. Dr Ahmed told the Vice-Chancellor that they were in the university on the directives of His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, CON, the Kaduna State Governor.  Baba Ahmed said they came to inspect the university roads and see where the government could come in.  The Managing Director noted that the Kaduna Government deemed it necessary to support the institution, being a premier university in Northern Nigeria.   He assured the Vice-Chancellor that they would commence the project as soon as possible. UK-Funded Propcom+, Value Seeds targets lower seed prices, climate smart agriculture

From Sadiq Mohd Zaria  Value Seeds (a private organization) in partnership with the UK-funded Propcom+ programme, has unveiled new automated seed packaging lines aimed at lowering the cost of quality seeds and strengthen food security. The partnership was aimed at expanding farmers’ access to certified varieties, and accelerating the adoption of climate-smart agriculture across Nigeria. Sir George Zangir, President Value Seed disclosed this while inaugurating the new automatic seed packaging lines and conveyor belts in Bagaddi Kudan Local Government on Tuesday. Zangir noted that the support from the UK-funded programme aligns with efforts to scale climate-smart agriculture in Nigeria, as the improved system boosts the distribution of nutrient-dense and drought-tolerant seed varieties.  He added that the initiative was designed to reduce costs, expand access to quality seeds and strengthen climate-smart farming. Fatima Tajuddeen Abbas Foundation embarks on free eye screening, treatment in Zaria

From Sadiq Mohd Zaria  The Fatima Tajuddeen Abbas Foundation has embarked on a free eye care outreach program targeting 2,000 patients with various vision problems in Zaria Federal Constituency, Kaduna State. The initiative, aimed at providing quality eye care services to underserved communities, kicked off with a team of experienced ophthalmologists and optometrists conducting comprehensive eye screenings and providing treatment for various eye conditions. Speaking at the launch, the foundation's representative, Barrister Aminu Ramalan  emphasized the importance of eye health and the need for regular eye examination. He said the outreach being conducted at ABU Teaching Hospital, tudun wada Zaria will last for six days. The new Directors include Alhaji Hamisu Dabo Dabai who joined the services of the Institute in May 1997 as Accountant I and rose through the ranks. He attended Ahmadu Bello University (ABU),and bagged a B.Sc. degree in Economics in 1990, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PGDM, ABU 2000), ANAN Certificate (Jos, 2002), Postgraduate Diploma in Transport and Logistics (PGDTL, NITT 2004) and Master's in Transport & Logistics (MTL, NITT 2008). Medical Outreach: Over 2,000 people to receive free eye treatment in Zaria

From Sadiq Mohd Zaria  Over 2,000 vulnerable persons set to benefit from free eye screening and treatment in a grand medical outreach program in Zaria federal constituency, this week. The medical outreach organized and sponsored by the Fatima Tajuddeen Abbas Foundation is aimed at providing essential eye care services and diagnosis on cataracts, glaucoma, and other treatable conditions. The Convener of the foundation and wife of the Speaker, House of Representatives, Hajiya Fatima Tajuddeen Abbas said those requiring surgery will be referred to a nearby hospital for further treatment, while others will receive eye glasses to correct vision problems. Tajudeen has concluded plans to empower 10,000 constituents with means of livelihood and enhance their businesses. Speaking to newsmen on the plan, Engineer Jamil Ahmad Muhammad JAGA, Chairman, Zaria local government council said the gesture was part of the speaker's effort to improve the socio-economic status of people in Zaria federal constituency. "Over 10,000 beneficiaries will receive different forms of support aimed at improving livelihoods and boosting small businesses." The Chairman said. Senator Abdu Kwari and Associates Face Court Over Land Deal Dispute

A Zaria-based businessman, Ahmed Muhammad Gusau, has filed a criminal complaint against Senator Abdu Kwari, Hajiya Amina Dalhatu Akilu, and Shehu Abdu Kwari, accusing them of fraud and criminal conspiracy over a controversial land and building exchange deal. The complaint, filed through the law firm Bashir Musa & Associates, alleges that the actions of the defendants constitute offenses under Sections 58 and 306 of the Penal Code Laws of Kaduna State, 2017, punishable under Sections 59 and 307 of the same law. According to the documents filed in court, the matter began around August 2025, when the complainant, Ahmed Muhammad Gusau, saw a plot of land located at No. 5, Abubakar Mustapha Road, Kabama Layout, Sabon Gari, Zaria, which belonged to Senator Abdu Kwari. Gusau developed an interest in acquiring the land and reached out to Shehu Abdu Kwari, the Senator’s brother, to help him contact the Senator.
