NBTE Approves 18 New Programmes for Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria

By Muazu Abubakar Albarkawa  The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted approval to Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, Kaduna State, to commence 18 additional academic programmes beginning from the 2025/2026 academic session. This was contained in an official letter dated February 20, 2026, signed by the Director of Polytechnic and Allied Programmes Department, Dr. Mrs. Fatima Kabir Umar, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of NBTE, Prof. Idris M. Bugaje, following a Digital Resources Inspection Verification exercise conducted at the institution between January 27 and 28, 2026. According to the Board, the newly approved programmes cut across engineering, science laboratory technology, agriculture, media studies, law and management disciplines. Scholarship award: I lost hope in studies after 4years completion of secondary school

Rayyan who lost his father about seven years back when he was in Jss 3 class  said he could not afford to sponsor his education to tertiary level for lack of support. The Emir of Zazzau, His Highness Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, has approved a series of new traditional appointments and elevations within the Zazzau Emirate Council. Among the appointments, the Emir elevated the Magayakin Zazzau, Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar Jibrin, to the prestigious title of Sarkin Yakin Zazzau. The new title places him as a full-time member of the Emirate Council and also confers on him the status of a Kingmaker within the Emirate. In a similar development, Malam Aliyu Abdullahi Aliyu has been appointed as the new Barden Gabas Zazzau. He succeeds his late brother, Malam Umar Abdullahi Aliyu. Victims of Sabon Gari Market Demolition Cry Out for Justice

Some affected property owners at the old Sabon Gari Market in Zaria have appealed to the Kaduna State Government to urgently pay compensation for shops demolished during the urban renewal programme initiated by the previous administration under former Governor, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai. The appeal was made during a press conference organised by the affected shop owners, where they narrated the hardship and economic losses they have suffered since their properties were taken over by the government. Speaking during the briefing, one of the affected property owners, Sanusi Ibrahim Iyayi, explained that the demolition of their shops under the Kaduna State Urban Renewal Project left many families without a means of livelihood. He said most of the affected traders and landlords have struggled to cater for their families since the demolition exercise. Kaduna Moves to Upgrade College of Education as Assembly Approves Dual Mandate Bill

The Kaduna State House of Assembly has passed a bill amending the law establishing the Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, to allow the institution to operate a dual mandate system. The bill was passed after passing the third reading, with the chairman of the House Committee on Education, Mahmud Lawal, presenting a report on the bill. He said that the amended law empowers the college to run both the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) and degree programmes concurrently without affiliation to any university. He said that before the amendment, the college could only run degree-related programmes through affiliations with universities such as Ahmadu Bello University, Kaduna State University, and others.
