COHEADS ratifies appointment of NUBAPOLY Rector as Chairman, visit NBTE Boss

The Council of Heads of Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology in Nigeria (COHEADS) has ratified the appointment of the Rector of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, Dr. Mohammed Kabir Abdullahi, as its Chairman.

The ratification was announced on Tuesday at the council’s 161st regular general meeting.

The appointment was conveyed in a letter dated 31st March, 2026 signed by the council’s secretary, Mas’ud Elelu.

A statement issued by Abdullahi Shehu Ibrahim, Public Relation Officer, Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic,Zaria said the new  Chairman Engr. Dr. Mohammed Kabir subsquently had led paid a working visit on the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Prof. Idris Muhammad Bugaje in Abuja on areas of collaboration.

He informed of the decision of COHEADS to draw the attentions of government on crucial problems bedeviling polytechnic education.

According to the statement other matters discussed include preparations for the 2026 Nigeria Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA) and the forthcoming World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics conference scheduled to hold in Nairobi, Kenya, from November 23rd to 27th, 2026, with the theme “Building Skills for Sustainability, Innovation and Global Employability.”

Speaking during the visit, Prof. Idris Muhammad Bugaje, NBTE boss announced the introduction of a new intervention tagged “One Polytechnic, One Product” (1P-1P), aimed at promoting innovation and national self-reliance through institution-based product development.

He urged all the new chairman to work assiduously with the board to ensure proper implementation of the initiative.

KADVS assures residents of safety during Christmas, New Year celebration
