Emir of Zazzau Approves New Traditional Appointments, Elevates Magayakin Zazzau


The Emir of Zazzau, His Highness Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, has approved a series of new traditional appointments and elevations within the Zazzau Emirate Council.

Among the appointments, the Emir elevated the Magayakin Zazzau, Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar Jibrin, to the prestigious title of Sarkin Yakin Zazzau. The new title places him as a full-time member of the Emirate Council and also confers on him the status of a Kingmaker within the Emirate.

In a similar development, Malam Aliyu Abdullahi Aliyu has been appointed as the new Barden Gabas Zazzau. He succeeds his late brother, Malam Umar Abdullahi Aliyu. The newly appointed title holder hails from the historic Mallawa Dynasty of Zazzau.

The Emir also approved the appointment of Malam Bashir M. Hayyatuddeen from the Bare-Bari Dynasty as the new Sarkin Bauran Zazzau.

Additionally, Malam Abdullahi Ibrahim Aminu from the Katsina Dynasty has been appointed as the new Dangiwan Zazzau, while Deputy Commissioner of Police, Usman Musa Shugaba, has been named the new Magayakin Zazzau.

The appointments were announced in a statement issued by the Magatakardan Zazzau and Council Secretary of the Emirate, Malam Yusuf Abubakar Hayyatu. According to the statement, all the appointments take immediate effect, while the dates for the turbanning ceremonies will be announced at a later time.

Zazzau Mourns: Eze Ndi Igbo of Zazzau's Burial Brings City to Standstill

From B.J Lord, Zaria  The city of Zaria came to a grinding halt on Saturday, March 14, 2026, as thousands of mourners gathered to bid farewell to the late Igwe (Sir) Unogu Vitus Ibeh KSM, JP, Eze Ndi-Igbo Zazzau,   The late Eze's burial ceremony, held at the Pastoral Center in Graceland, Sabon Gari, Zaria, drew a massive crowd of dignitaries, traditional leaders, and well-wishers from across Kaduna State and beyond.  Notable among the attendees were the representative of Kaduna State Government, the Zazzau Emirate Council, District head of Sabon gari, Security agents, Business and Commercial moguls and the Igbo communities across the country. KADVS assures residents of safety during Christmas, New Year celebration

From Sadiq Mohd Zaria  Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVS) has reassured residents of the state of its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property throughout the Christmas and New Year festive period. A statement, issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Service, Yunusa Shehu Ibrahim said the Commander, CP Ali D. Audu (Rtd.), stated that KADVS operatives have been strategically positioned across the state to ensure a peaceful and secure celebration.
