ZEDA holds 33rd AGM, public lecture on Artificial Intelligence in Education

Zaria Education Development Association ZEDA is to hold its 33rd Annual General Meeting and Public Lecture on Artificial Intelligence in Education.

The two-day programme is scheduled to take place on the 5th and 6th of December 2025 at ABU Hotels (formerly Congo Conference Hotel), Zaria.

Briefing newsmen at ZEDA Secretariat in Zaria, Dr. Alimi Bello, Chairman, Central Working Committee said Prof Isa Ali Pantami, former Minister of Communication and Digital Economy is expected to deliver a lecture on this year's  theme "Artificial Intelligence in Education: Opportunities, Challenges, and Ethical Implications in the Nigerian Education System.”

He added that Senator Kashim Shettima, Vice President Federal Republic of Nigeria is expected to attend the Annual General Meeting along with the Dr Abbas Tajuddeen Speaker, House of Representatives, Kaduna and Zamfara state Governors, Sen. Mallam Uba Sani and Dr. Lawal Dare respectively.

The CWC chairman informed that the grand patron of the association and Emir of Zazzau Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli will be the Royal father of the day while former Vice Chancellor ABU Prof Kabir Bala will chair the public lecture session.

"Discussants will include Prof. Mohammad Aminu Ahmad of the Department of Secure Computing, Kaduna State University, and Malam Mohammed Shuaibu Umar, former Director, Iya Abubakar Institute of ICT, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria." He said.

Dr. Bello stated that in this edition of the AGM, ZEDA has introduce sporting activity to promote talent discovery and youth engagement through football competition.

In his contribution, Prof Isa Abbas, Secretary of the Association, further explained that the football competition has been going on for over four weeks aimed at healthy contest among students.

"The  sport competition will help identify and nurture potential athletes who can eventually represent Nigeria at higher levels. The sports segment is now officially part of the AGM calendar.

Prof. Abbas expressed optimism that the enhanced programme—including public lectures, the expanded AGM schedule, and the sports activities—will strengthen ZEDA’s impact on education, community development, and youth empowerment.
