Kauran Mata Jnr: Constituency Projects Must Be Assessed Based on Facts

The Convener of the Zaria Youth Peace and Development Round Table, Malam Ishaq Alhassan Kauran Mata Jnr, has said that the objective of the stakeholders' engagement was to provide a platform where key stakeholders could objectively assess development projects executed in the Zaria Federal Constituency while giving members of the public the opportunity to express their views in an atmosphere of fairness and transparency.

Kauran Mata Jnr made this known during the stakeholders' engagement held at K & R Hotel, Zaria, after participants embarked on an inspection tour of major constituency projects across the constituency.

According to him, the gathering was not organised to either praise or criticise any individual, but rather to ensure that constituency projects are evaluated based on verifiable facts and first-hand observations. He noted that such an approach would promote transparency, accountability, and good governance.

He added that young people have a critical role to play in nation-building, stressing that they should actively participate in discussions concerning the development of their communities by offering constructive suggestions and strengthening collaboration between government and the people.

He further stated that engagements of this nature help to deepen democratic governance by providing citizens with the opportunity to assess the performance of elected representatives and make recommendations on how development initiatives can be improved for greater impact.

Malam Ishaq Alhassan Kauran Mata Jnr expressed appreciation to participants drawn from academia, civil society organisations, the media, community leaders, youth groups, and other stakeholders for their objective contributions and commitment to the development of Zaria.

Earlier, participants inspected several key constituency projects, including the ongoing 17.5-kilometre road from Global Foundation through Madadaci and Majeru to the Kaduna–Kano Expressway, the Aba Bridge, as well as modern hospitals located at GwarGwaje and the Zaria Education City.

The delegation also visited the Zaria Education City, where they inspected several educational and developmental facilities under construction, including the Federal College of Agriculture, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, College of Nursing, Technology Incubation Centre, Women Development Centre, and a modern Police Station.

Speaking after the inspection tour, former Senator representing Kaduna North Senatorial District, Senator Suleiman Usman Hunkuyi, who chaired the stakeholders' round-table session, commended participants for conducting the assessment with sincerity, objectivity, and a genuine commitment to the development of Zaria.

Senator Hunkuyi said that giving citizens the opportunity to personally inspect projects before expressing their opinions is an effective way of promoting transparency, accountability, and responsible leadership.

He also praised the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, for the numerous developmental projects executed across the Zaria Federal Constituency, noting that the projects cover critical sectors such as education, healthcare, road infrastructure, and economic development.

He urged members of the public to continue offering constructive advice to public office holders while ensuring that public facilities are properly maintained for the benefit of present and future generations.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Zaria Local Government Area, Engr. Jamil Ahmad Muhammad, commended the organisers for providing a platform that encourages dialogue and objective assessment of development projects.

He assured participants that the local government would continue collaborating with relevant authorities to ensure that residents of Zaria fully benefit from ongoing and future development initiatives.

Engr. Jamil Ahmad Muhammad also applauded Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen for his remarkable contributions toward providing critical infrastructure across the constituency, saying that the projects would significantly improve education, healthcare, transportation, and the socio-economic well-being of the people.

He thanked participants for their valuable recommendations, noting that such contributions would help improve planning and ensure that government projects continue to address the needs and aspirations of the people.
