FUE Zaria VC Tasks Budget Monitoring Committee on Due Process

The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Education, Zaria, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure, has charged members of the University Budget Monitoring Committee (BMC) on the Needs Assessment Intervention Fund to ensure strict compliance with procurement procedures in the execution of intervention projects.

Prof. Bunkure gave the charge during the inauguration of the committee, constituted in line with approved guidelines for the administration and monitoring of intervention funds in Nigerian universities.

He said the committee was established to strengthen accountability, transparency and due process in the utilisation of intervention funds allocated to the university.

The Vice-Chancellor stressed the need for adherence to procurement procedures, including project planning, advertisement, tendering and contract awards, to ensure effective implementation of projects.

According to him, the committee is expected to note allocations made to the university by the Implementation Monitoring Committee (IMC).

Bunkure advised the management on priority intervention areas, monitor fund utilisation and project execution, and compile periodic reports for submission to relevant authorities.

The committee is chaired by Babande Babakura Imam, representing the Governing Council, while Barrister Mohammed Saminu Abubakar serves as secretary.

Other members include Prof. Suleiman Balarabe, representing the Senate; Malam A. A. Galadima, representing the University Congregation; Dr. Uba Isma’ila Alhaji, representing the academic staff union; Comrade Lawal Umar of NAAT; Comrade Abubakar Sadiq Suleiman of NASU; Comrade Abdullahi Ibrahim Sarki of the Senior Staff Union; and Comrade Yakubu Ibrahim, representing the Students’ Representative Council.

Members of the committee expressed appreciation to the university management for the confidence reposed in them and pledged to discharge their responsibilities diligently in line with the institution’s developmental goals.

KADVS assures residents of safety during Christmas, New Year celebration

From Sadiq Mohd Zaria  Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVS) has reassured residents of the state of its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property throughout the Christmas and New Year festive period. A statement, issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Service, Yunusa Shehu Ibrahim said the Commander, CP Ali D. Audu (Rtd.), stated that KADVS operatives have been strategically positioned across the state to ensure a peaceful and secure celebration. The statement urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report any suspicious persons, movements, or activities to KADVS operatives or the nearest security agency.
